Day by day itinerary

08:00
Your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi and depart for Ninh Binh. Enjoy a comfortable 2–2.5 hour drive through the Red River Delta, where you’ll witness everyday rural life, lush rice paddies, and traditional villages along the way.

10:15 – 11:15
Arrive at Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, Vietnam’s first capital dating back to the 10th century. Visit the ancient temples of King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh, beautifully set among limestone mountains. Your guide will provide insights into Vietnam’s early dynasties, history, and cultural heritage.

11:30 – 12:30
Continue to Hang Mua. Climb approximately 500 stone steps to the summit for one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Ninh Binh. From the top, admire the winding river, vast rice fields (seasonal), and dramatic karst formations stretching across the Tam Coc landscape—an ideal spot for photos and fresh air.

12:45 – 13:30
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste Ninh Binh specialties such as goat meat, crispy rice (com chay), and fresh vegetables. Take time to recharge before your afternoon adventures.

13:45 – 15:15
Head to Tam Coc for a tranquil sampan boat ride along the Ngo Dong River. Sit back as a local rower gently paddles you through a stunning landscape of limestone cliffs and rice fields. Pass through three natural caves—Hang Ca, Hang Hai, and Hang Ba—each offering a cool and unique atmosphere. This peaceful journey is often described as “Halong Bay on land.”

15:30 – 16:45
After the boat ride, begin a leisurely biking tour through the countryside toward Bich Dong Pagoda. Cycle along quiet village roads surrounded by rice paddies and towering limestone mountains, offering an authentic glimpse into local life. Upon arrival, explore the pagoda complex built into the mountainside, consisting of three levels: Ha, Trung, and Thuong Pagoda. The serene setting and ancient architecture make it one of the most picturesque spiritual sites in northern Vietnam.

16:45 – 19:00
Return to your vehicle and begin the journey back to Hanoi. Relax and enjoy the scenery as you leave behind the peaceful countryside of Ninh Binh. Arrive at your hotel in the early evening, concluding a memorable private day tour filled with history, nature, and cultural discovery. End of the trip!
